Commemorating the Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action
On November 15, in partnership with Vaccine Network for Disease Control, we took a significant step towards a cervical cancer-free future! At ADORÉ, we joined the global movement to eliminate cervical cancer by vaccinating 43 young girls at Melchizedek Academy and Hope for Survival Orphanage against HPV – a virus responsible for 66.9% of cervical cancer cases in Nigeria.
π The Reality
- Every year, 12,075 Nigerian women are diagnosed with cervical cancer, and 7,968 lose their lives to this preventable disease.
- Cervical cancer is the second most frequent cancer among women in Nigeria, yet it's one of the few cancers that can be prevented with a vaccine.
π‘ The Way Forward
Despite barriers like limited awareness and access, the HPV vaccine remains a powerful tool in the fight against cervical cancer. Through partnerships like this, we aim to break these barriers by combining vaccination with education and awareness to secure a healthier future for the next generation of women.
At ADORÉ, our commitment goes beyond vaccination. It's about empowering communities, spreading awareness, and making prevention accessible to all.
What can you do?
β
Get Screened: Regular screenings starting at age 30 save lives.
β
Vaccinate Early: The HPV vaccine is most effective for girls aged 9-14.
Together, let’s eliminate cervical cancer. πͺ
